Lucy
Chevrolet Impala Conv - 1958
Lucy became the replacement for the yacht I had to sell back in 2009. I decided to make something fun and made a project out of buying a vehicle in US, taking it for an extended road-trip and then importing and register it in Sweden – including the epic bureaucratic oddyse that means. This is all described in the article below.
After this adventure 6 fantastic years followed, lots of garage time, lots of shows and meetings, cruises and so on. After having spent a lot of time correcting and modifying mechanical stuff to make her more road-stable and cruise-friendly she started showing signs of wear and tear. She needed some cosmetic assistance at the same time as I was pondering to replace the 348 under the hood with something more up to date. Beautiful as that motor is it is not the machine to take long distance. Some yelled barbarian but I was never much for originality anyway. On the other hand when I started summarizing the cost I decided to go down a different path. She had to go and she was sold to finance what would become the Baron. Lucy ended up in Lidköping, she had her cosmetic restoration but kept the driveline and as I understand most of the other mods I made. She won best in show at Power Big Meet with her new owner and was sold directly at the show to a new owner in Finland where rumour has it she has a lot easier life than I would ever offer any vehicle. Looking back at our time together I miss her but each thing has its time. Have a good one, dear!
