The Baron
Chrysler Windsor - 1948
The Baron is a gem, wont you agree? I know, it got out of hand, it is too much…but hey, it was fun! It started with this Chrysler that was already modified beyond ever becoming orginal again…perfect in my eyes. It needed a little bit of love, a new interior, some chrome, a new paint etc but it was ok as it was…a couple of weeks…until it overheated during a cruise in central Stockholm. No anti-freeze in the cooling system…a lot of rust in the water. It was a quick decision to put in an LT1 from a Corvette….little did I know that I started a four year long total rebuild of everything….EVERYTHING. Yet it has been rolling every summer except for that summer it spent at the paint shop. A well spent summer that too as it showed eventually.
As a testrun after the new motor was installed I took it to a rodshow in Biggleswade, UK. That was an adventure I liked. On the way home I didn’ t dare to turn it off as the fuel pump whined horribly…top down, non-stop Rotterdam-Stockholm. It was so fun that I went back to UK, Santa Pod, the year after to test my new air-ride and the BMW-interior. When the pandemic is over I will certainly try to go there again to visit some friends and celebrate a successful project.

…and so at last there was an end to pandemics and lock-downs. As you can see in the new galleries and articles it was a successful though delayed debute for the Baron as well as his new friend the caravan “Baron Laban” ( aka Godfrey ? )
